Here is a brief report of a few of the exciting things happening in some of the districts throughout our organization!
District #3
Our district has been invited to meet with some local clergy members bi-monthly to keep them updated on Communities for Decency efforts. They are delighted with our new web site.
District #6
We have done some presenting in local meetings and signed up some new members. We have also participated as a district in the CFD action items. We wrote letters to our local Target about covering their magazines and e-mailed Channel 4 about their programming.
District #14
Our district meets every month except for December. We have an internet safety education presentation for school-aged children. We are we working with the PTA and presenting to some of the schools in our district.
District #22
We hold meetings every month except for July, August, and December. We also send out a neighborhood newsletter with CFD information such as personal stories of successes people in our area have had. It is sent to about 200 families in our neighborhood.
We also have a group working with the schools about teaching awareness to the children. An article was put in the elementary school parents' newsletter about establishing a Family Decency Standard. We are planning to have a booth at the elementary school safety fair coming up soon.
Lastly, we have asked everyone to respond to the CFD action items and have encouraged our group to thank our Smith's store for covering its magazines.
District #24
We have been invited to send a participant to our local community pro-family/safety committee. This is a committee that includes all our local civic and church leaders. We are excited to coordinate our efforts with others.
District #25
This year we have been instrumental in helping Logan City pass a model resolution establishing and promoting a child appropriate community standard. We also helped Stand For Decency gather blankets for abused children in their Salt Lake City walk-a-thon. This fall we are monthly offering presentations to the public in the City Hall Building, right by the public library. They will be informative and inspirational and will teach the value of decency and empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to promote decency and create a great community. We will also be monthly e-mailing articles with great ideas on what we each can do to make a difference.
How to Contact Your District Leader
Communities for Decency is divided into 29 districts patterned after the Senatorial Districts of Utah . Each district has a trained leader who organizes CFD members residing in each district. As a district, members and leaders educate their friends and neighbors; resolve local decency issues; and work with the entire organization to accomplish state goals.
To find out which district you belong to, look at the number on "State Senate" line on your Utah state voter's registration card; or call your county clerk.
To further assist you, we have provided a list of the Utah Senatorial Districts with the current CFD district leaders and their contact information.
