WHEREAS, pornography and obscene material presents youth with a false and distorted image of human sexuality, devoid of love, commitment, and responsibility; In addition to corrupting children's minds, obscenity also contributes to the breakup of marriages, to sexual crimes against adults and children, and to the decline in morality and decency.

WHEREAS, we, the business owners and managers of Utah businesses and corporations are concerned about the proliferation of recorded, written and photographic material, displays and signage, that are placed in the public view and access, or any material which may have a degrading effect on a wholesome child-rearing and family environment; and

WHEREAS, we, the owners and managers of Utah businesses and corporations value Utah's children and have a vested interest in protecting them from objectionable material; and

WHEREAS, we, the business owners and managers of Utah businesses and corporations wish to encourage other businesses and corporations in the state of Utah to promote positive standards for the good of the entire community, particularly for the good of the children.

THEREFORE, we, the business owners and managers of Utah businesses and corporations hereby petition Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and all District, County and City Attorneys in the State of Utah to aggressively enforce existing laws, which include the "Utah Indecent Public Display" and "Harmful to Minors" provisions in Utah Code 76-10 part 12.

Please protect children and all Utah citizens from debasing obscenity by ensuring that the Utah State Attorney General's Office and all District, County and City Attorneys in the State of Utah enforces state obscenity laws.
